World Humanitarian Day August 19 2015

Hi Everyone, today is World Humanitarian Day!

At Moonbird, we like to work in an environment where we can be really passionate in celebrating humanity and always approaching design with the Earth in mind.

After all, we all share Earth's habitat as a common living space. Looking at the definition of humanity and if you search online it is defined as all humans collectively. The words we are passionate about include sharing, helping and working together to overcome any situation!

The day was actually designated by the General Assembly to coincide with the anniversary of the 2003 bombing of the UN headquarters in Bagdad, Iraq.

It was significant because many humanitarian personnel who worked relentlessly lost their lives, including one man named Sérgio Vieira de Mello who dedicated his life in giving a voice to help victims effected by armed conflict, these innocent people who faced danger and adversities that couldn't speak up for themselves.

Humanitarian acts are all about teamwork and respecting each other.

For example it may mean being more inclusive in your local community, volunteering your time to raise funds for struggling families, orphanages, schools and local shelters.

Or it can mean being apart of larger-scale relief efforts in countries suffering from poverty and joining peace corps.

Included are a few images of world famous Humanitarian Leaders and Activists of our time including Martin Luther King, Mother Teresa, Mahatma Ghandi and Nelson Mandela. We celebrate their hard work in paving new pathways and creating opportunities for their people.
